The “Territorial Strategies for Innovation” (TSI) project has the overall objective to enhance sustainable development through innovative solutions for economic diversification and to improve regional and global competitiveness of the Oversea Countries and Territories.
The project was launched in November 2014 in Brussels and aims at providing technical capacity to 20 OCTs which are engaged in developing their Territorial Strategies for Innovation. The project is funded by the 10th European Fund for Development and driven by the Oversea Countries and Territories Association (OCTA).
The objectives of this regional workshop are to:
- Exchange information on the status and content of regional innovation strategies.
- Discuss the early stages of the implementation of strategies and plans related to the short- and long-term actions. These first steps are intended to lead to the proposal of pilot projects in the OCTs.
- Discuss possibilities of developing joint pilot projects at regional level.
- Facilitate regional cooperation and collaboration network.
- Define the thematic priorities and further regional cooperation.
Five (5) OCTs are participating in the regional seminar:
- French Polynesia
- New Caledonia
- Pitcairn
- Saint Pierre and Miquelon
- Wallis and Futuna
The Seminar is also an opportunity for the Innovation managers of the above mentioned territories to meet with their counterparts and innovation experts from the regional and international level. Day one will thus be dedicated to presenting different strategies for innovation, the matter of their implementation and impacts on the economy. Day 2 will showcase financing solutions for innovative projects. Finally sectorial workshops will allow non-governmental entities to share their experiences and latest findings.
