The Australian Academy of Science (AAS), on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Industry, invites applications for funding from Australian consortia who are a partner in an application under the European Commission (EC) Horizon 2020 programme.
The objective of the Australia-European Union (EU) Collaboration Program is to broker strategic research partnerships with the EU under the Horizon 2020 programme and support strategic cooperative research with Europe.
Two grants of $200,000 (AUD) each excl. GST are available. Australian applications will be assessed using a merit based competitive process which is based on the collaborative value of the project to Australian research and industry following the successful assessment of the EC application. These grants will be offered as seed funding to encourage Australian consortia to participate in projects with European consortia under the first tranche of calls (calls that close on or before 29 April 2014) of Horizon 2020, which are currently open for application.
Information on the Horizon 2020 calls currently open for applications can be found on the Horizon 2020 website: ec.europa.eu/research/participants/portal/desktop/en/opportunities/h2020
Australian consortia must consist of at least three participants from across Australian public and private sector research organisations and include at least one industry partner.
Expressions of Interest can now be submitted by Australian consortia that have partnered in a European application submitted to Horizon 2020 as part of the first tranche of calls that close on or before 29 April 2014.
