The Malardé Institute contributes to the preservation of public health and the natural environment of French Polynesia. This mission revolves around two poles:
Public health
ILM is involved in the implementation of public health. To this aim, ILM participates in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of human diseases, takes an active part in health monitoring, and performs clinical laboratory tests for public and private sectors.
Research
ILM runs a biomedical programs defined in relation to the health policy of the Government of French Polynesia.
For this, the institution develops expertise in:
- communicable diseases (vector borne diseases);
- marine biotoxins (in relation with the ciguatera phenomenon);
- bio-ecology of insect vectors and nuisance to human health; and
- non-communicable diseases.
