PACE-Net Plus is organised around a number of priority areas. These are:
- Health, demographic change and well-being;
- Food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine and maritime and inland water research, and the bioeconomy;
- Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials; and
- Cooperation on innovation issues to tackle the societal challenges.
The first three are directly linked to three of the major Societal Challenges that are identified in the European Commission’s large research and innovation funding program, Horizon 2020. These areas are also key priority themes the Pacific region.
The fourth area, innovation, is a broader area of mutual interest between the Pacific and the EU, focussed on improving the engagement of small and medium enterprises.
